You know how a lot of movies these days include hours and hours of bonus content? Extra trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with the cast and crew, and so on?
Have you ever wanted that for books you enjoy? Have you ever finished a story and now you Have Some Questions?
Well, that’s where Patreon comes in.
Patreon is a site where you can offer your financial support of content creators like me in exchange for certain perks (called tiers).
My tiers (14 in all) range from a single US dollar to the insane amount of $1k, billed monthly. For every dollar (and each one counts to a writer, especially those of us who are disabled), certain shiny things will come your way.
Some examples I offer are:
– the occasional snippet of my work-in-progress or a peek at a draft I’m polishing
– killing a character you name (also known as a Tuckerization, but with added evil)
– discounted critique services
– access to an exclusive Discord server for chats and other eviltry
Just to name a few. Want nagging rights (meaning you can pester me about my works in progress)? They’re available! Other tiers include my knitting, being acknowledged in my future works, signed copies, all the way up to a custom quilt made with evil in every stitch.
I hope you’ll consider supporting me there. I have some interesting shiny things in the works, and if you want to be the first to know about them or even have a say in what comes about, head on over and pick the tier that interests you most.
A COUPLE THINGS TO CONSIDER:
– Not every tier offers the same benefits.
I have a variety of levels so there’s something for everyone’s budget (again, my sincere appreciation and gratitude for your support at any one of them), but it is very much a “you get what you pay for” thing. If you’re going to throw $500/month at me, you’re going to get a little more than those at the $5 tier. Be prepared for that.
– YOUR PLEDGE WILL BE A MONTHLY RECURRING EXPENSE*. Budget accordingly.
I keep using the word “budget” because we all have one, and I don’t want you straining yours because you want access to my Discord server but really shouldn’t spend that extra $10. I get it. I do. Do not feel bad or ashamed or say anything about how “you wish it was more.” I am profoundly grateful for ANY AMOUNT you choose to send my way.
*Patreon has different setups for creators, and some accounts require monthly billing while others are charged according to the kind of content they offer. Mine is the monthly subscription version.
