Happy Release Day!

For those waiting for more Kyle, today is the day! Light in a Dark World: Legends of the Destrati is out and available for your reading pleasure!

There at the site you can purchase the book in any format you like. As for third party resellers, here’s generally how it goes:

Kindle is available approximately 24hrs after the release on Mundania’s site.

Amazon: About a week after release (5-8 days).

B&N: About a week after release in print.

Nook: Mundania doesn’t currently upload directly to Nook but it’s available in EPUB format at Mundania & will also be at various other resellers.

All Romance eBooks: 2-3 days after release.

All other resellers like BookDepository, etc, usually have things about a week or two later.

When I have buy links to those places, I’ll post them here.

Now I go to drink tea and go to work on other projects! Enjoy Kyle!

P.S. I’m planning a giveaway at some point. I’m just too busy right now to think about it. Too many irons in the fire, but there will be a giveaway soon!

Whoa. A Month? Really?

Um…hi.

Yeah, I know, it’s been awhile since I blogged. Like…almost a month. I have no excuse, really. I mean, I do – I’ve been sick and busy. That’s pretty much it. Lazy, too, really. Comes with being busy.

But what also comes with being busy is stuff getting done. I can’t tell you what stuff that is, because I don’t know – I don’t really see a lot of progress around here, so whatever I’ve been doing for the last month didn’t make a dent in my laundry. I’ll have to look into that. Anyway! I’m here now to share a few things with you. Here they are, in chronological order:

Thing 1) My Editor of Awesome, Skyla Dawn Cameron, has a book out today. Go buy it, read it, and love it. Buy her backlist, too. Just because. I mean, she has to eat if she’s going to be able to edit the books I write, so it’s win/win here. If you just don’t have the money this month, you’re in luck. Mel’s World is having a giveaway, as is Books Make Me Happy. Go enter and check out all the freebies offered with it!

Thing 2) So remember back in December when I won the Book of the Week award from Long and Short Reviews? Well, because of that awesome win (again, thank you, fans!), I’ve been nominated for the Book of the Year award. From their email:

Congratulations! Your book ALL WOUNDS received a “BEST BOOK” rated review last year and earned a spot in our LASR Best Book of 2011 poll. The voting will run from February 16 through 29, ending at midnight Eastern time on February 29.

Now, I’m up against some awesome authors, including my own Editor of Awesome, so I in no way expect to win this award/poll. But, if you’re feeling generous and want to toss a shout-out my way, I’d be appreciative. I’m in the “non-erotic” category on the left side of the poll.

Thing 3) I have a book coming out in two weeks.

Light In A Dark World Front Cover

Front Cover of Light In A Dark World Anthology by Skyla Dawn Cameron

Light in a Dark World: Legends of the Destrati is a collection of my short stories focusing on the various members of the vampire clan Destrati and its associates. Kyle will feature prominently.

This collection will be available from Mundania Press March 6, 2012. Note: In addition to three completely new stories, those previously published in the Mammoth books are available edited, rewritten, and extended in this anthology.

There are a lot of other differences between these stories and what I’ve written before, and you may not like it. Just be aware of that, and be sure and read the author’s note before reading the stories.

And there you have it! All the news I have at the moment.

Well, all the news I can remember at the moment. Cold medicine plays havoc with one’s mental faculties.

Darkness Falls

Yet another SOPA post. This one is just to remind regular readers of my blog that my site, along with thousands of others, will be going dark tomorrow in protest of SOPA and PIPA. If you’re not familiar with what these things are, click here and see what all this is about.

There’s more about it here: http://sopastrike.com/.

Just a quick reminder. See you when this is over. For awhile anyway. If this bill passes, I may not be seeing you at all, ever again.

So if the internet is important to you, get involved. You know I hate politics. This isn’t politics. This is the criminalization of innocent people (like me) in order to punish a few assholes. This is Hollywood studios not wanting to get off their lazy asses and spend the money to go after these fuckwads on their own. Instead they’ll spend billions of dollars in lobbying Congress and the Senate to pass these stupid bills because they think it’s better to punish everyone to get their way instead of doing what “regular people” like me and you do in order to stop online piracy. You know, sending notices and so on. Tracking down pirates. Whatever. There are already laws designed to protect the copyright holders and stop online piracy.

THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER.

I’ll stop ranting now. Enjoy it. It might be one of the last rants you hear from me. Freedom of speech is under attack, so if you like my rants, scream at your Congressperson/Senator. TELL THEM YOU WANT YOUR DINA RANTS!

That is all.

OMG I Did It

NaNo Winner Badge

50k in 30 Days

50k in 30 days. They’re not the best words in the world (in fact, they’re quite crap), and will probably never see the light of day, but I did it.

I can’t help but be just a little bit proud of this. I accomplished the goal I set and learned a lot about discipline.

Now I deserve a shot of tequila and have earned myself a nice dinner at one of my fave restaurants. For this is the reward I have promised myself.

I will probably never do this again. But I’ve done it.

I’ve even signed up with some friends for an unofficial continuation in December. 30k this time in 30 days. We’re using the hashtag #30in30 on Twitter if you want to join in!

I will now go collapse.

A Thank You Post For The Fans

All I can say is “wow.”

OMG you guys, wow.

Thank you for all the pimpage and support and love and comments and fan mail and everything. You are all so freakin’ awesome and I very much appreciate each and every one of you.

All Wounds has been out for a little over a month now and I’m overwhelmed by the continuing response to it. Like this: As of this writing, my debut novel is number 7 in the fantasy category on the Barnes & Noble Fictionwise ebook site. This would not have been possible without the support of you all. You also love me on Goodreads and Amazon.

So thank you, my wonderful fans, friends and family! You all are the very best, and I’m grateful for your faith in me.

Much appreciation,
Dina (And Rebecca, Syd, Ryan, Billy and Nana)

Last Stop on the All Wounds Blog Tour!

Whew! It’s been a whirlwind these last two weeks! Thank you again to all my hosts and reviewers!

Today I’m over at JA Saare’s blog. There’s a fun interview up. I answer some very deep questions.

I’m also participating in this year’s National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). If you’re there and want to buddy me, go right ahead.

Today I have a long to-do list. I don’t even want to think about everything I need to get done. It’s mostly hours on the phone and packing up parcels for giveaway winners!

Later, all!

General Updatey Thingy

I know it’s been awhile since I blogged, and even longer since I’ve vlogged, and for that I’m truly sorry. I’m exceedingly busy with a lot of offline stuff, as well as deadlines and so on. (I hear you over there! “Well, Dina, you have time to knit!” SHUT UP! I need my sanity time! I also play World of Warcraft…what of it? Better I do those things than other things that would earn me jail time!)

Anyway, here’s an updatey post. I was going to do Five Things Make A Post, but I don’t think I have five things, so we’ll just carry on, shall we? Continue reading

Dina Leaves The Lair. In Broad Daylight. On Purpose.

I know, I know. I’m shocked too. Don’t faint. I know it’s a rare occasion. I usually hide between the spring and autumn equinoxes, not only from the daylight, but from tourists and kids out of school for the summer. I emerge sometime after Labor Day and celebrate the return to normalcy.

But! I don’t pick the times or dates for certain things, and if there’s something I want to go to scheduled in the middle of summer, well…I have to leave the lair. One of those things is a writing seminar scheduled for this weekend (June 3-5) that I’ll be attending. It’s James Scott Bell’s Selling Your Novel and Screenplay Intensive Seminar in Sherman Oaks, CA.

While this doesn’t technically count as “an appearance” as I’m there for the seminar and not to sign books*, I plan to have a drink or two at the hotel bar in the evenings if you want to come say hi! I’ll warn you all now – I have dinner plans both Friday and Saturday evening, so I’m not sure when I’ll be at the bar. Watch my Twitter for when I’ll be there. I’m a night person, and so it will probably be late. Like toward closing time. Unless I stay out late at dinner partying or something. Hey, I’m a writer. Things could happen.

I’m not taking my laptop, so I won’t be checking email or Facebook or anything. Please hold all catastrophes and end of the world events until Monday, June 6. I don’t have one of those fancy phones or an i-Thingy that lets me do all that stuff, either. I have a cell that sends text messages to Twitter, but I can’t read Twitter on it. So there you have it. I will be…*gasp*…out of touch!

So there you have it. I’ll be gone this weekend. Plan accordingly and have the mess cleaned up by the time I get home. I’m outtie. I solemnly swear I am up to no good. There will be witnesses. Hopefully there will not be news coverage or jail time.

(*Though I won’t be offended if you bring books you want me to sign when I’m not “in class.”)

Con Artist -or- Surly Writer’s Con

It’s amazing what random things inspire a writer. This morning it was a hashtag on Twitter about yet another convention I’ve never heard about, and it made me scowl. I mean… Continue reading
